Bundelkhand Initiative partnership with Azim Prem Ji Philanthropic Initiative (APPI)

We are happy to announce our partnership with Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI) for our Bundelkhand Initiative for sustainable improvement in the quality of lives and livelihood of 3000 disadvantaged rural families in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh – Bundelkhand. The project has a holistic approach of interventions in women institution, agriculture and goat-based livelihood and integrated natural resource management (INRM) and improving governance.

Project Title

Adapting to climate change to enhance Livelihood and income of disadvantaged community through INRM (Integrated Natural Resource Management) based livelihoods promotion programs

Key objectives of the project

  1. Mobilize and strengthen the rural women into the women institution such as SHGs and associated tiers for their empowerment in long run.
  2. To implement decentralized cost-effective rainwater harvesting structure and SWC measures in project villages to improve the irrigation potential in agriculture and reduce erosion.
  3. To enhance the capacity of farmers towards sustainable agriculture and water management and develop demonstrations on good agriculture practices to generate income.
  4. Infrastructure creation for farm-based livelihoods through MGNREGS convergence in INRM approach.

Target geography of the project

The project will be implemented in Tikamgarh, Baldevgarh blocks of Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh – Bundelkhand in the catchment area of UR river.  

Project Duration

Proposed duration of the project is 60 months, and it has been started from 1st April 2021. Through a joint collaboration of Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI), the program aims to create a transformative impact in the lives of rural families. The project objectives are aligned with #SDG 1 (No poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 13 (Climate Action). The project is aligned with the major program of the Central and State governments. The key program being the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), NRLM and other government development programs.
