School chali main: Vimla's Journey to Empowerment

"SCHOOL CHALI MAIN", which translates to "I am going to school", represents the joy of Vimla Salvi, a 27-year-old resident of Rupakhedi Village in Chittorgarh District, Rajasthan.

Vimla's life took a significant turn thanks to the Second-Chance Education initiative, a project supported by PRADAN and UN Women and implemented by Manjari Foundation. Having been forced to end her education abruptly at the 8th grade due to her marriage, Vimla now experiences a notable transformation.

Residing in a joint family arrangement with her husband and parents-in-law, Vimla's husband works as a truck driver, while her in-laws are farmers. The intervention of Manjari Foundation has opened doors for Vimla, who previously faced a bleak future. She enrolled in the NIOS (open university) to complete her 10th grade, commencing her journey as a student once again. With great enthusiasm, she now attends classes regularly at the designated hub, eager to grasp new concepts. Expressing her gratitude, Vimla smiles and says, "I intend to pursue education and secure myself a government job. I am so very thankful to Manjari for giving me a second chance,” she says, smiling.
