Inter Exchange Of Experiences In West Africa!

Jun 08, 2023

The Manjari Foundation team visited Kayes, Mali, in West Africa to support the Aliniha network in promoting and strengthening community institutions. The Aliniha network team had previously visited India in 2016, during which they toured Dholpur to observe and learn about community-led processes for developing institutions that can support and enable local communities in the long run.

Based on their experiences and observations, the Aliniha network decided to seek support from the Manjari Foundation for promoting community institutions in their network areas, particularly in Mali and Senegal. In this context, the Manjari Foundation team visited Kayes, Mali, to support the community institutions' work.

During this visit, our team conducted a situation analysis of the Aliniha network's work and provided support to the Aliniha team by offering broad community mobilization principles, strategies, processes, and a new area approach for scaling up the program. Additionally, Manjari oriented them about the framework, design, scope, and perspective for the way forward/partnership towards unleashing the potential of women-led institutions for holistic community development.

In the Kayes region of Mali, our initiative focused on empowering women-led organizations across 19 villages in the Senegal River Basin. Our outreach program has facilitated more than 12,000 women to date. Soon, a group of women leaders from Dholpur, Rajasthan, will be visiting their counterparts in the villages of Kayes, Mali, and Senegal to facilitate the SHG-based federation.
