Let’s Reduce The Use Of Plastic!

Jun 08, 2023

Plastics are no doubt an added convenience, but we can’t deny their detrimental impact on our ecosystem. Sakhi has been playing a vital role in bringing awareness among people regarding waste management systems with a special focus on curbing plastic use and pollution.

Sakhi Project reached out to Chittorgarh district in Rajasthan in September 2016, which led to the creation of several women lead institutions. A group of 28 Sakhi women came together for a monthly meeting of the Sakhi Sangham Federation where Ms. Manisha Bhati from HZL addressed the women regarding plastic pollution and guided women on how to curb this menace. Her valuable insights motivated women to act further in this regard. She advocated the use of paper or cloth bags.

The highly motivated women took an oath to work honestly in this regard. “Actions speak louder than words” holds true for these women, who acted as messengers, passing on the message to SHG members and women of the village.
