Launching Udaan – a programme aimed at reducing teenage pregnancies
We are happy to announce our partnership with IPE Global for Udaan-TaRA (Teach and Raise Adolescents) in Dholpur district. The project, that is funded by CIFF (Children Investment Fund Foundation) sets out with the arduous goal of reducing teenage pregnancies in Rajasthan.
A 360 degree approach
Key objectives of the project
- To improve knowledge, attitudes and practices around Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in order to reduce risky behaviour among teens
- To facilitate sessions on nutrition, gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive and health, substance abuse, mental health and non-communicable diseases.
- To train teachers of 585 secondary and senior secondary schools on the adolescent health curriculum (developed in-house) in consultation with the education deparment of Dholpur.
- To provide handholding support to trained teachers during live sessions in schools
Target geography
The project will be implemented in 585 Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools of 6 blocks of Dholpur district of Rajasthan, reaching a total of 50,000 adolescent girls and boys
Project duration
Manjari Foundation has been runnung this project for the last 4 years as a pilot in 66 government schools in Bari Block of Rajasthan. The positive impact of the project was clearly visible in the behaviour, body language and the level of participation of adolescents during the sessions as well as outside school.
As a result, the District Administration has taken up the initiative with IPE Global and the project has been extended to all 585 government schools across 6 blocks of Dholpur for one year i.e., till March 2021. The project will be directly impacting the lives of over 50000 adolescent girls and boys. The project objectives are aligned with #SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 5 (Gender Equality), 10 (Reduce Inequality) and 17 (Partnerships to achieve the goal). The project is also aligned with the goals of the District Education Department, RKSK (Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakrm) and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative of the Central Government.
